Dum Dee Dum
I knew I’d get lazy and not post here. But that’s going to stop! Because blogging is “fun.” Well, in the most recent exciting news, Barack Obama is our president-elect. I was for him for awhile, but I ultimately chose to vote for Ralph Nader. I strongly believe that everyone should vote for the “best candidate” no matter what else is surrounding the election. I believe I am a registered independent.
The 2 party system and how it campaigns is stupid, really. It’s all about platforms and money. A lot of other people have great ideas for this country but these things and of course the MEDIA doesn’t give them the attention they deserve. Sometimes their views are “out there” but often they give a fresh look.
My roommate told me, how could I vote for someone other than Obama or McCain (well actually just Obama because she supported him) in the swing state of Ohio? You know what, I’m going to stand up for what I just said. That I will always vote for the best candidate regardless of whether I think he will win. Seriously, if more people thought like this 3rd parties might stand a better chance!
Obama I think will try to implement change, but I was wary of that “socialist” stuff. I’m not completely well-versed on my politics and don’t have qualifications to tell you what’s right, but I do know that here in the US we want freedoms within the government. I think people do screw up a lot though, and a helping hand of government involvement might give some direction, but of course the government is made up of fallible people too. We sometimes treat “big government” like it is it’s own entity, not comprised up of people.
And McCain and Palin I think are cool, admirable people. But I didn’t see any big changes coming. We’re going to see where Obama takes us. It’s pretty exciting, and all we can do is wait and see!
